NACA

The National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) was established in 1915, and became the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) on October 1, 1958.

Ten year pin.
Fifteen year pin.
Twenty year pin.
NASA New Style

I believe these are current-issue service pins.

Twenty year pin.
Twenty five year pin.
Twenty five year pin in original box.
Thirty year pin.
Thirty five year pin.
NASA Old Style

From the logo on circa '60's NASA documents, I believe these to be older pins, but can't be certain.

Five year pin. I'm pretty sure this is a service pin (if only because it's a screwback), but it could be some sort of logo/promo pin.
Twenty year pin in original box.
Twenty five year pin.
NACA/NASA Set
Set of NACA/NASA pins. Unbelievable set, all awarded to the same person, showing the transition from NACA to NASA. It is missing the original 5 year NACA pin. This has been replaced by a newer 5 year pin (this may be wishful thinking on my part and the pin in question might simply by a promo/logo pin). I assume the original owner lost the 5 year pin and replaced it with what was available at the time. An amazing set of pins - the original owner cared enough about them to both keep them together and to purchase a replacement for the 5 year pin. Note that the recipient must have started with NACA no later than 1943 (and as early as 1938). I had originally thought to try to obtain a NACA 5 year pin to complete it, but on reflection, I won't change a thing. On a trip to Edwards AFB (July 2000), I took this set so that it might visit, or revisit as the case may be, Dryden Flight Research Center.
